Sandblasting

It removes a thin layer of the surface along with the rust and old coating, which is normal and expected on steel of any real thickness. On thin panels or precision parts we use laser cleaning instead so nothing gets thinned out.

It can if the panel is thin enough and the operator isn't careful, which is why we watch the metal as we go and back off or switch to laser cleaning on anything too thin to take the abrasive safely.

Rust, failed coatings, old paint, and general corrosion, down to clean, workable steel. It's the standard first step before repair, welding, or a new coating system goes on.
