A grain trailer is a serious purchase, and replacing one outright isn't always the smart move. Most of the trailers that come through our yard have taken a beating from hard use, weather, and corrosion, but the frame and running gear underneath still have years left in them. Restoration gets you back years of service and holds the trailer's value, for less than a new trailer costs. No two trailers come in the same shape, so no two jobs look the same. We build the scope around what your trailer actually needs, from a straightforward clean and coat to a full structural rebuild. Here's what's typically on the table.
Surface preparation
Sandblasting strips rust and failed coatings off the bulk of the trailer fast. Laser cleaning takes over on the spots that need to stay exact, like thinner panels or areas next to seams and welds. Between the two, the trailer comes out clean without losing metal it can't afford to lose.
Structural repairs and metal replacement
Weakened areas get reinforced or repaired at the structural level, with real steel and real welds. Where steel or aluminum has corroded past the point of repair, we cut it out and replace it, then reinforce the surrounding structure so the trailer holds together under a full load out on the road.
Protective coatings and refinishing
Premium primer systems go on first, followed by industrial-grade coatings built for what an Alberta winter and a summer of gravel roads will throw at a trailer. The goal is a trailer that looks the way it did when it left the factory, with a coating system built to hold up out here.
Slope sheet replacement
Worn or corroded slope sheets get replaced with quality aluminum components sized to your trailer. This is usually one of the first areas to show wear on a hopper that's hauled a lot of grain, and it matters for the seal as much as the look.
Wheels and tires
New tires and aluminum wheels where the budget calls for it, or a refinish on the rims you already have if they're still sound underneath the corrosion. Either way the trailer rolls out looking finished.
Suspension and brake repairs
Brake components, drums, bearings, suspension parts, and air bags get inspected and repaired or replaced as needed. A trailer that looks restored but isn't safe to hook up and haul isn't actually done.
Tarp systems
We replace worn manual tarps or upgrade the trailer to an electric tarp system, depending on what you're running now and what you want going forward.
Fender repair and replacement
Fenders take a beating from gravel and debris kicked up on the road. We repair what can be saved and replace what can't, so the trailer isn't shedding rust from the one part everybody sees at eye level.

A trailer with surface rust and a rough coat of paint often has more life left in it than it looks like from the yard. Restoration extends the service life of a trailer you already know and holds its value along the way, for less than the cost of buying new.
